Another Lost Tooth

Karlie lost one of her front teeth today.  The other one is not far behind.  Kayla was so obsessed with Karlie's loose tooth.  She thought she should pull it out.  After much begging Karlie let her try.  I finally put an end to it when I heard Karlie screaming bloody murder from upstairs.  Dennis cleared up all the commotion by pulling it out!!  Simple and no tears.

The Grammy Goes To.....

Ok. So it really wasn't a Grammy, but she could of pulled it off.  She actually got an award a school for Great School Work and for being such an incredible author.  I will have to share her Disneyland story with you.  That is if the teacher ever gives it up...she says the story is famous at her house! Of course I just have to be the main character in the story.   

So which picture is better?  The self portrait (I think Karlie actually took it.) or the one I took at school??

I love the character in the first one.  She took my camera and her and Karlie had a great time taking pictures.  Funny thing is there were no pictures of Karlie.

Wacky Hair Day

The girls had wacky hair day at school today!! Kayla looked like Cindy Lou Hoo from the Grinch.  Kelsee would not let me do much to her hair.  She said it was too creepy.  We did paint her bangs red.  Even after a good washing her scalp is still a little red today.   Oops!!

Ceramics Class Surprise

When we received Kody's schedule at the beginning of this year it had been changed.  He had been taken out of photography.  He was upset that they put him in ceramics.  As the semester progressed he discovered that he really enjoyed it and created some pretty cool things.  These were his last couple of projects.

The basketball bank and snake mug.  He has some pretty intense classes this semester so I wonder if he will miss ceramics??

Quick January Updates

The sunset the other night was so gorgeous! It had rained hard all day and then as the sun set the rain stopped and the clouds started to drift apart. It was so pretty.  This is from my back door.



Since I have been pretty bad this month I thought I would high light a few happenings in our family.
*The look on Dennis' face was priceless when I informed him over dinner that his daughter had received a rose from a boy at school.
Especially when he found out it was Karlie.  A friend of hers (who happens to be a boy) gave her a pretty velvet rose.
*I received a phone call one evening from the Principal of the Elementary School.  You can only imagine what was going on in my mind, when he explained who he was and that he had received a note from Kelsee's teacher...OH NO!! Now what?? (after the forged notes incidence last year my mind begins to really wonder!!).  He then continued; A HAPPY NOTE! He must of sensed my confusion and repeated again.  A happy note. Her teacher wanted me to know what a good student Kelsee was and what a excellant author she is becoming. (WOW! I was not expecting that!!) Such a great surprise and relief. My heart starts beating normally.  I was very impressed that he called to tell my how well my child was doing.  It was pretty cool.  Kelsee has an incredible teacher this year. 
*Kody was named "Hornet Super Star" for the month of January.  I still need to sneak in and get a picture of the bulletin board at the High School. He also got his first job, working at a Tractor Dealership.  My mom is so excited because she grew up on a farm and my grandpa loved tractors.  So here is my "city" boy learning how to drive tractors and best of all earning gas money for his car.
*Kayla is doing well.  Her teacher tells me how incredible she is, with one exception: she is a little clumsey.  She had fallen and broke her supply box twice already.  The other day she asked the kids to go back and sit in their seats.  Kayla fell. So the teacher revised it to "Students will you please go back to your seats and Kayla don't fall".  I tease her that I should pack her an extra set of clothes where ever we go!

Beehive Conference 2010

All the worry, work, fret and sleepless nights were all worth it.  All things considered Beehive Conference was a huge success not to mention lots of fun.  Our theme was:

"Be Strong and of a Good Courage...It's a Jungle Our There."

We had lots of fun with this theme.  The cute invitations:

We started them off on a plane ride to the jungle.

Complete with seat numbers and chair packs with brochures.

Our opening speaker was the in flight entertainment:

"The Expedition Guide".  She was fabulous!!

When we landed we presented the girls with the Courage Necklaces because we wanted to give them a little courage for their journey. Then they were divided up into four groups

(Leopards, Cheetahs, Zebras and Tigers) for rotating 30 minute classes.

The girls enjoyed a sandwich bar, chips, veggies,"dirt pudding cups" and "alligatorade punch (kiwi-stawberry punch mixed with 7up)".

A huge THANKS to the extremely creative and talented Tara, the incredible teachers and all those who took their valuable time to help out!

It was a good day, but I came home sat on the couch and slept for atleast an hour!!

Courage Necklaces

For Beehive Conference I kept getting this feeling I needed to make some "courage" necklaces.  It took alot of thinking to finally come up with something I liked.  After alot of time and work I finished 90 necklaces. 

I started with these alphabet tags.  Perfect because the hole is already there!

Then I painted them black.

I computer created a small "Courage" (about 1/2" x 1/2") and used gloss varnish to glue it on

and seal the whole tag. I coated both sides a couple times.

I then attached them to black thin jewerly elastic and added a red bead.

They turned out much better than the pictures show.  Most importantly the Beehive's really liked them.

Cost breakdown:

                          $4.18 wooden tags

                            5.99 elastic

                            2.49 beads

                            2.18 paint and varnish

              Total:   $14.84 for 90 necklaces  .16 cents each.
